Club rivalries highlight intramural basketball finals

March 20, 2015 by Daniel Block

The intramural basketball season ended Thursday night with its own version of March Madness. All season long, the social club teams lagged behind the non-club teams, kind of like how I am lagging behind in my homework and classes at this point in the semester. But if intramural basketball can tell us anything, it's that it's not how you start, ... [Read More…]

The calm before the storm: bye week for intramurals

March 5, 2015 by Daniel Block

Spring break is here, which means all intramural teams receive a much-needed bye week before entering the final two rounds of playoffs. Some teams will use the break to rest injured stars while others will force their players to follow strict training regimens so they don't lose their "touch" leading into the most meaningful games of the season. ... February 27, 2015 by Daniel Block

The initiative to develop Cedar Creek Waterway reached a crucial point in its future. The City of Abilene Bond Advisory Committee approved the $1.4 million proposal to upgrade the waterway connecting Kirby Lake on the south side of Abilene to Fort Phantom Hill Lake north of the city. And on Thursday, the Abilene City Council approved the project ... [Read More…]

Social clubs fall behind in intramural basketball standings

February 25, 2015 by Daniel Block

After a one-week hiatus due to the annual Sing Song extravaganza (nice job on the predictions, Optimist), intramurals returned with a vengeance to the gyms of the Rec. The glitter littering the floor was replaced with sweat, and 'bows were once again thrown rather than worn. Costumes were traded for headbands, wristbands and the occasional ... [Read More…]

Basketball ‘bows exchanged for Sing Song bows this weekend

February 11, 2015 by Daniel Block

The Rec remains silent this week; one might even say it is lonely, without the dribbling of basketballs and tears of defeat to keep it company late into these warm winter evenings. In truth, the Rec's older and bigger brother, Moody Coliseum, is stealing all the intramural glory this week with some event everyone seems to be fussing about known ... [Read More…]

February 6, 2015 by Daniel Block

Two new professors will join the Graduate School of Theology faculty in the fall. Dr. Richard Wright and Kelli Bryant Gibson will instruct classes in the GST. Both will have undergrad responsibilities as well, a common occurrence for faculty in the department, said Dr. Ken Cukrowski, dean of the College of Biblical Studies. "Usually our ... [Read More…]

Intramurals feature basketball brotherhood

February 4, 2015 by Daniel Block

The first week of intramurals in 2015 has proven absolutely nothing. Honestly, it's far too early to make any predictions, considering only one team has played more than one game. But, in order to stay true to the name of sports journalism, it is my duty to overanalyze and over-report and predict winners and conduct interviews as though the ... [Read More…]

"Ending my college education early was always the plan for me, but the things that I have been able to see, experience and examine about ACU’s community were not. I have found immense growth in ACU over the past three and a half years, but ACU still has a long road to climb if it wants to keep catering to students as the world changes around them."
