Graduate chooses uncommon path

May 5, 2010 by Sondra Rodriguez

I have no idea what I want to do with my life, and ACU taught me that. It didn't teach me what I want to do; it taught me everything I don't. And for that, I am tremendously grateful. Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't want to do anything closely related to my major for quite some time. I'll probably jump back into it, but I'm tired. That's such a lame ... [Read More…]

Turning the page in textbooks

April 23, 2010 by Sondra Rodriguez

What does the future of books look like? What if books allowed us to initiate a conversation with fellow readers, classmates or even the author, while jotting notes in a digital margin? The Mobile Learning Executive Team and the Adams Center for Teaching and Learning is part of a three-year partnership with Bell Labs of Alcatel-Lucent, a voice, ... [Read More…]

Needless anxiety halts enthusiasm

April 18, 2010 by Sondra Rodriguez

My conviction arrived in a dirty, white envelope last Thursday. I hesitantly opened it and saw four images of my little white car speeding through a red light. I promise it was yellow when I went through, but the images proved otherwise. It happened Easter Sunday, of all days, and I was driving back to Abilene after a relaxing weekend of America's ... Familiar stench torments tenants

April 16, 2010 by Sondra Rodriguez

I really thought it wouldn't happen again. I thought it couldn't happen again - I believe in a God who I believed with all my heart and soul wouldn't let it happen again. My faith has been rattled, my nostrils burned and my personal scent? Pungent. A couple of months ago, a skunk sprayed my home twice in one week. My three roommates and I thought ... [Read More…]

Claiborne, Norris to speak at ‘alien’-themed Summit 2010

April 1, 2010 by Sondra Rodriguez

"Aliens and Light: Finding God in the Darkness" will be the theme for Summit 2010, director of ministry events Brady Bryce revealed Thursday during a faculty luncheon in the Adams Center. Minor obligations no less important

March 30, 2010 by Sondra Rodriguez

My roommates and I had our lawn mowed Thursday for the first time in a year and a half. "How do you let it get to that point?" my mom asked as though I said I hadn't showered in a year and a half. I responded, "I live with three girls, we're full-time students, we all have jobs and try to maintain somewhat of a social life and mowing the lawn is ... [Read More…]

Stench ultimately prompts patience

February 25, 2010 by Sondra Rodriguez

My house was skunked early Monday morning. The wretched smell woke my three roommates and I shortly after midnight, right around the time one of my roommates drug her sleepy self into my room mumbling: "it smells awful in here". She climbed into bed with me as I shoved the corner of my comforter up my nostrils in an attempt to block my nasal ... [Read More…]
