October 13, 2006 by Mallory Sherwood Schlabach

By Mallory Schlabach, Editor in Chief With two and a half months to go, the Centennial Campaign sits at $114 million, $36 million shy of its $150 million goal, said Phil Boone, director of the Centennial Campaign. The campaign, which was announced in Feb. 2004, is on track to have the money raised-just not by Dec. 31, as was originally planned, ... [Read More…]

Staff should respond respectfully

September 19, 2006 by Special Contributor

Wow. Criticize Alumni Relations and expect to get burned. First was a mean-spirited, over-the-top response from the director of Alumni Relations regarding Mr. Field's evaluation of the graduation party in May. This letter certainly took strides in the building of relationships with future and current alumni- particularly in the JMC ... [Read More…]

Fees for celebration not unreasonable

September 15, 2006 by Special Contributor

It's not often I read a letter to the editor and laugh out loud, but I did just that when I read Kelli Pace's letter of Sept. 13. She was offended because attractions at ACU's birthday carnival such as food, drink and inflatables were "pay-as-you-go." One sentence in her letter says, "only ACU would throw a birthday party ... and then charge you ... [Read More…]

September 8, 2006 by Kelsi Peace

By Kelsi Peace, Features Editor A birthday cake nearly nine feet tall will sit in the Gata Fountain Saturday in honor of ACU's Centennial. Samantha Adkins, coordinator for alumni relations, said the cake will have three two-foot layers and a crown resting on top. Although the Centennial Task Force originally considered making the giant cake ... [Read More…]

Centennial encourages excessiveness

August 30, 2006 by Jared Fields

By Jared Fields, Managing Editor This whole "Centennial Celebration" thing is great for ACU. It really is. There have been great things done to celebrate what ACU has done and what ACU will do in the next century. But, the university has used as an excuse to overdo things just a bit, like the Graduation Celebration in May. For those of you ... [Read More…]
