Flint crisis hinged on societal fears of active government

March 31, 2016 by Elijah Evans

[SUGGESTION: AN EDITOR'S NOTE RECOGNIZING THAT ELIJAH LIVED IN THE FLINT AREA FOR 6 YEARS AS A CHILD] It is easy to blame someone or something for the Flint water crisis; the EPA, the tight fingers of state Republicans and the Governor, or the weaknesses of local responses. But the root causes of the Flint water crisis go much deeper. The ... [Read More…]

February 16, 2016 by Elijah Evans

Eighty-four percent of Iowan democrats under the age of 30 just voted for a gruff grandfatherly socialist from New Hampshire. Sanders' unexpected dash to the top of the ... [Read More…]

The primaries are weeks away and the application deadline for an absentee ballot is Monday. Voting is upon us and controversial candidates abound. And once again, the majority of the nation's voters are uninformed. Research indicates that although most voters mean well, they are politically incompetent. This does not mean that the voting bloc is ... [Read More…]

May 1, 2015 by Optimist Editorial Board

Walking around in yoga pants, hair in a messy bun, eyebrows on fleek and Starbucks in hand, any girl would labeled as "basic" right off the bat. But please, for the love of all things just, let's eliminate this label from our vocabulary "Basic" has spread through our vernacular similar to LOL and JK, at first as a joke, and then it became so ... "Ending my college education early was always the plan for me, but the things that I have been able to see, experience and examine about ACU’s community were not. I have found immense growth in ACU over the past three and a half years, but ACU still has a long road to climb if it wants to keep catering to students as the world changes around them."
