The fallen empire: U.T. struggles

September 17, 2013 by Special Contributor

The empire has fallen. The once indomitable force that was Texas Longhorns football is but a shell of its former self. UT is stuck in the middle of the now-mediocre Big XII conference going nowhere fast, and to make matters worse, Colt McCoy is not jogging out of that tunnel on Saturday. Neither is Vince Young. Neither is Major ... [Read More…]

September 17, 2013 by Matthew Sloan

As the athletic department moves into new territory with Div. I athletics, the student body needs to be aware of some things that will be different in the coming years. The first and probably most obvious change is the new opponents ACU will be playing. ACU has already taken down Texas Tech in volleyball. The women's basketball team is taking on ... [Read More…]

Week 1 of NFL brings excitement

September 11, 2013 by Matthew Sloan

After one weekend of NFL football, everyone has already been reminded why they are so passionate about the sport. The fact is the NFL is compelling because each game is critical to a team and nobody knows what to expect. New England needed a last minute comeback to beat the lowly Buffalo Bills behind rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel. However, ... [Read More…]

Coach’s Corner: Golding’s rebuilding efforts

September 4, 2013 by Special Contributor

By head coach Joe Golding Change. Very few words in the English language can mean as much to a group of people, culture or program than that six-letter word. Change is exactly what we are doing, and have been doing, over the last several months in the ACU men's basketball program. We have moved from NCAA Div. II to NCAA Div. I, changed from ... August 28, 2013 by Matthew Sloan

The ACU football team has had a steady stream of talented football players making their way to the NFL for nearly a decade, but none of them have been like Daryl Richardson. Richardson is a second-year pro that has been named the starting running back for St. Louis, which is impressive for a number of reasons. First, the Rams had a Hall of ... [Read More…]

Football season offers range of challenges

August 26, 2013 by Matthew Sloan

Football games are not played on paper, they are played on grass. But all we have right now is the paper schedule, so it is time to start counting wins and losses. The Wildcats start off with a game against Concordia College in Shotwell Stadium, which should be money in the bank. ACU begins with a comfortable win and fans rejoice. A week later, ...
