Volunteer Opportunities for March 31, 2004

An elderly woman needs a volunteer to mow her lawn. Contact the Volunteer and Service-Learning Center for more informaion.

ACU for Abilene is Saturday. The opportunity to work together to serve the Abilene community is open to faculty and students. Sign up in the Campus Center ticket windows.

Keep Abilene Beautiful needs volunteers to pick up litter April 3 on Abilene streets as part of Texas Trash-Off. Times are from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., and lunch will be provided. Contact the Volunteer and Service-Learning Center in the Bean Sprout for more information.

The House That Kerry Built, an organization that provides services for medically fragile children, needs a volunteer to create two Web sites. Contact the Volunteer and Service-Learning Center in the Bean Sprout for more information.

The Salvation Army needs volunteers to help sort clothing, stain shelves and price items. For more information, contact Dawn Pulscher at 677-1408.

Sears Methodist needs a Bingo assistant Mondays through Fridays from 9:30-3 at 3202 S. Willis. For further information, contact Rhonda Mays at 692-6145.

The Northern Oaks Rehab and Nursing Center needs volunteers to help elderly with activities such as Bingo, crafts, visits and games any day, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. or evenings with coordination at 2722 Old Anson Road. For more information, contact Jayme Smith at 676-1677.

Dyess AFB Community Center needs volunteers to instruct classes for youth and senior citizens Mondays through Wednesdays, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. The classes include arts, drawing, sketching, music and dance. For more information, contact Jermaine Ervin at 696-4305.

Meals and Wheels needs volunteers to deliver hot meals to the homes of home-bound elderly and adults with disabilities. Volunteers may work alone or in teams of two or three to deliver meals during the noon hour Monday through Friday. For more information contact Debbie Crawford.
