Volunteer Opportunities for April 7, 2004

An elderly woman needs a volunteer to mow her lawn. Contact the Volunteer and Service-Learning Center in the Bean Sprout for more information.

Keep Abilene Beautiful needs volunteers to pick up litter Friday on Abilene streets as part of Texas Trash-Off. Times are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and lunch will be provided. Contact the Volunteer and Service-Learning Center in the Bean Sprout for more information.

Volunteer announcers are needed for the Abilene North Jr. baseball league beginning April 1. Days and times vary. For more information contact the Volunteer Center in the Bean Sprout.

The House That Kerry Built, an organization that provides services for medically fragile children, needs a volunteer to create two Web sites. Contact the Volunteer and Service-Learning Center in the Bean Sprout for more information.

The Salvation Army needs volunteers to help sort clothing, stain shelves and price items. For more information, contact Dawn Pulscher at 677-1408.

The Northern Oaks Rehab and Nursing Center needs volunteers to help the elderly with activities such as Bingo, crafts, visits and games any day, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. or evenings with coordination at 2722 Old Anson Road. For more information, contact Jayme Smith at 676-1677.

Dyess AFB Community Center needs volunteers to instruct classes for youth and senior citizens Mondays through Wednesdays, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. The classes include arts, drawing, sketching, music and dance. For more information, contact Jermaine Ervin at 696-4305.
