Registration for FilmFest 2012 opened Wednesday. Though the six week period in which students may work on their entries began Wednesday, registration is open until Feb. 22.
This will be the eighth annual FilmFest and judging by attendance at the the first meeting, Tom Craig, director of student productions, is expecting it to be one of the best.
“It was a really nice turnout,” Craig said. “A good mix of old and new students is always exciting because you really get to see new perspectives from what they create.”
Twenty students, ranging from freshmen to seniors attended the meeting.
“It is open to all students interested in film and production,” Craig said.
Ben Weaver, sophomore electronic media major from Abilene, won awards with his film “Smile” at FilmFest 2011 and plans to participate again this year.
“FilmFest is about creating a work of art and having people come see it.” Weaver said. “I met other creators after FilmFest last year and now we’re making plans to work together this year.”
Weaver said students should get involved with FilmFest whether they interested in the film industry or just want to entertain friends.
