The Students’ Association granted three student groups $1,776 of the $6,500 conference request fund in its meeting on Wednesday.
The conference request fund is a portion of the SA budget set aside specifically for trips being taken by student groups. The first three student groups to request funds were International Justice Mission, Student Trading & Research and ACU Swing Cats.
Despite the immanency of the Sing Song preview show Wednesday evening, SA was able to muster enough members to form a voting Congress, who granted funds after presentations by students representing IJM and STAR. There were no representatives for Swing Cats, but two Congress members explained its conference. SA established an evening pattern of helping to pay for registration.
IJM was granted $476 of its requested $3,501 for their for the IJM Global Prayer Gathering and Student Conference in early April, which is being conducted in Washington, D.C.
STAR was granted $800 of its requested $4,200 for RISE 13 in early April, which is being conducted at the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.
Swing Cats was granted $500 of its requested $1,789 for Lindyfest in mid-March, which is being conducted in Houston.
SA meetings are conducted on Wednesdays at 5:15 p.m. in the Onstead-Packer Biblical Studies Building Room 114. Meetings are public and anyone is welcome to attend.
