Red Mango, located inside the United Supermarket on Judge Ely Boulevard, closed several weeks ago.

The frozen yogurt and smoothie brand occupied leased space inside the supermarket.

Eddie Owens, director of communications and public relations for United Supermarkets, said he couldn’t give a specific reason for why Red Mango closed the location.

“They did the same thing, closed their leased space in one of our Amarillo stores several months ago, as well,” he said.

Owens said the United on Judge Ely has been bought by Albertsons but the change of ownership had nothing to do with Red Mango’s closing.

“Red Mango was leasing space in our store, so that whole transaction took place long before Albertsons’ acquisition was ever on the table,” he said.

Owens said the space will probably be used for something else, but there are no immediate plans for it.
