The men’s tennis team competed all throughout spring break and brought home several victories against various tough competitors.
The Wildcats lost 3-4 in consecutive matches in Abilene against non-conference competitors, University of Texas-Pan American and Liberty University.
Junior Marco Bensley and sophomore Nico Agritelley were ACU’s leading winners in single competition as the two took home victories over both schools.
Freshman Paul Domanski was the other winner in singles as he contributed a win against Liberty.
In doubles, freshman Henry Adams and junior Jason Proctor were the lone victory against Liberty. However, on the other side, ACU swept UT-Pan American in all three doubles competitions.
Later that week, the Wildcats hit the road as the team traveled to Kansas City, Missouri to compete against Northwest Missouri State University, University of Missouri- Kansas City and University of Nebraska at Omaha.
The Wildcats took home victories with a close score against Northwest Missouri State, 4-3, and a sweep against the University of Nebraska at Omaha, 4-0.
In singles competition against Northwest Missouri, the Wildcats split victories 3-3, and won two out of three of its matches in doubles.
The big 4-0 sweep against Omaha resulted in three wins in singles by Agritelley, Bensley and freshman Andrew Hutchinson.
Partners Bensley/Gesser defeated their competition, 8-1, and Agritelley/Adams also won their match, 8-2.
In ACU’s loss the to University of Missouri- Kansas City, the Wildcats led in doubles competition with two victories and lost in singles competition with Proctor and Domanski contributing the only two wins.
To wrap up the break, the team traveled back down to College Station to compete against the big Div. I competitor Texas A&M University. The Wildcats lost 1-6 against the Aggies.
Bensley totaled in most victories as he was the lone winner in singles in close sets of 6-3, 7-5. In doubles, Bensley and Gesser together won, 6-5, and 9-7.
The team will move forward from spring break as the Wildcats take on Monmouth University in Dallas. The team will host home matches this Saturday against local McMurry University and University of the Southwest.
