ACU for Life is hosting a benefit concert, Sonder, on March 29 from 6-9 p.m. at the Beauchamp Amphitheater.
The event will have food trucks and live music from Willow City, with opener Weston and the Evergreen, and the money raised from the event will be going to Pregnancy Resources of Abilene.
ACU for Life was founded in 2015 by three people and has grown every year since.
Marissa Trujillo, junior theatre education and design tech major from Forney and president of ACU for Life, said that the club is all about celebrating human life from birth to death.
“ACU for Life is Abilene Christian University’s pro-life group here on campus,” Trujillo said. “We are passionate about serving God by protecting all human life from the moment of conception until natural death.”
Trujillo said the reason they moved the concert to the amphitheater this year is that they wanted a better location for the event.
“We did the concert in 2017 and we did it in the little roundabout area by Chapel on the Hill,” Trujillo said. “We didn’t have a great experience with that location, so we decided to look for something that students on campus knew about.”
Trujillo said they chose the bands because they are also pro-life.
“We really wanted to choose a band that was first of all, affordable for us, because we had to look for sponsors to cover the cost of the band,” Trujillo said. “Also, a band that I guess in a way has the same mission as us.”
Blake Hertzberger, junior Christian ministry major from Channahon, Illinois, said he is excited about trying to get people to come to the concert.
“I think it will be great to get as many people as we can for a good cause,” said Hertzberger.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for ages 5-12, and children under 5 get in for free. Students who buy a ticket and attend will receive chapel credit.
Students can get purchase discounted tickets for $7 in the campus center next week on Thursday and Friday or at one of the ACU For Life meetings before the concert.
