The office of New Student Programs opened applications for Wildcat Week steering committee through March 18.
Each fall, the office of New Student Programs welcomes incoming freshmen and transfer students through Wildcat Week, a time for students to meet others, attend informational sessions and have their questions answered.
Most current students remember Wildcat Week as a time of introduction to the people and mood of the campus as a whole. One of the things that makes this transitional period so successful is the steering committee that plans, schedules and runs the week.
The Wildcat Week steering committee is a group of students who are more behind the scenes. Caddie Coupe, director of new student programs, said they don’t work directly with students.
“Wildcat Week has always had a steering committee, probably since the 2000’s,” Coupe said. “We want [students] to have participated in Wildcat Week, either as a freshman or as a leader.”
There are a few requirements for students seeking positions on the committee. Applicants should meet the characteristics, have “a good moral compass,” and at least a 2.5 gpa.
Coupe said they are not looking to change much from last year’s team. Six student directors will select a minimum of four team members for the committee.
“We’re probably looking from twenty to thirty, but that would be a very large number,” Coupe said. “We hope that the student directors will pick students for a well rounded team. We want a diverse group of students.”
Applications are available until March 18 for the steering committee. Those interested in more information can visit www.acu.edu/nsp.
