For the 2024-25 academic school year, ACUPD reports 2,599 student parking passes in use with a decrease of 156 passes. Faculty and staff parking passes have also decreased by 13, with 999 passes issued this year compared to 1,012 last year.
This decrease in the number of passes issued presents a challenge, as ACU’s campus has 2,268 parking spaces available for students, faculty, and staff. ACU’s parking layout includes a mix of different lot types. There are eight all-permit lots, which are open to both students and staff, six faculty/staff-specific lots, and eight lots designated for students. Additionally, there are four reserved lots, including the Barret, Dillard, University Park, and Administration lots.
With the Crutcher Scott Baseball Field being under construction ACUPD Chief of Police, Jason Ellis, said “As of right now we are in a great position, nothing is really impacting or affecting the traffic flow of campus.”
Ellis said the spots that are affected by the construction are not fully utilized during school hours.
Ellis clarified that a student’s parking pass is only valid for the specific vehicle registered with ACU for that school year. If a student buys a new vehicle after their parking pass has already been issued, they will need to purchase a replacement permit for the new vehicle at a discounted rate, as long as it’s within the same school year.
Grant Jones, freshman finance major from Burnet, says “I have had issues with parking around ACU I believe that there needs to be better parking near the freshman dorms and at the Rec.”
