AEI Executive Council and CEO to host poverty screening

November 10, 2017 by Ashlan Smith

Poverty Inc, a documentary focusing on social injustice and poverty awareness will be screening this Thursday at 7:30 pm in the COBA building in room 201.

Admission is free and chapel credit will be provided along with Chick-Fil-A for dinner.

The American Enterprise Institute Executive Council and the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization will be co-hosting the event.

Founded  in 1938, the American Enterprise Institute is a public policy institute based in Washington D.C. They are a non-partisan organization which employ scholars from a variety of backgrounds. The AEI Executive Council program is a program for college students which aims to go about “preserving and strengthening the foundations of a free society through independent thinking, open debate, and reasoned argument.”

After the documentary there will be a panel discussion by AEI and CEO officers.

Madeline Dayton, junior, global studies and business management major from Houston, is a current member of the university’s AEI Executive Council.

“As college students, we have the responsibility and privilege to spread awareness about poverty and social justice on our campus,” Dayton said “Viewing and discussing this documentary is near and dear to my heart, and I would love to see a great turnout.”

Previously, the AEI executive council has hosted a plethora of speakers from AEI at the university.
