In addition to a wide array of lectures and classes, Summit offered approximately 60 exhibits, an average amount.
Anna Jane Perrey, ministry events coordinator, has been at ACU for three years. This is her first year to be in charge of the Teague Special Events Center exhibits for Summit.
The exhibitors come from all over the country and showcase their organizations to spread awareness of their causes. The group of exhibits range from local churches to large organizations and sponsors.
Zondervan, the publisher of ACU alumni Max Lucado’s books, is among the first-time exhibitors this year.
Perrey said she believes the exhibits are where people go to enjoy one another’s company between lectures.
“The exhibits provide a more casual than stressful atmosphere,” Perrey said.
The Teague Center also provides rooms for lectures, a snack bar and a lounge area for guests to mingle.
D.J. Bulls from Arlington said the lounge area was a great part of their Summit experience. He has been to multiple Summits and has found his way to the exhibits every year.
“The exhibits are a great place to come and catch up with folks,” said Bulls.
Fort Worth native Sid Allen came representing Healing Hands International and Rapha International. Allen serves as a board member for the two organizations that joined together in June.
Rapha is Hebrew for “healing.” This organization collects usable medical supplies that clinics throw away and sends them to third world countries where medical supplies are almost non-existent.
The organization has grown into more than just a transporter of medical supplies. Agricultural outreach programs are set up mainly in Africa and implement raised bed gardening, drip irrigation and food preservation to help people use the little water they have to supply their families with food.
Allen comes every year with Rapha and Healing Hands to get new people involved in the work the organization provides.
“Whenever we can tell the story of Healing Hands, that’s what we do,” Allen said.
The organization hopes to return to the Summit exhibits for many years.
The exhibits are open until Thursday at 10 a.m.
