Football opened its home season Saturday night with a win, defeating No. 25 Stephen F. Austin 28–20 at Wildcat Stadium. The No. 16-ranked Wildcats forced three turnovers and scored 14 points off them to secure their fourth win in the last five games against FCS Top 25 teams. Redshirt senior running back Jordon Vaughn led the offense with two touchdowns, while the defense delivered two strip sacks and a fumble recovery in the end zone. The Wildcats now look ahead to their final nonconference matchup, a trip to Fort Worth to face TCU at 7 p.m. on Sept. 13.
