The end of another year is here, and commencement ceremonies are near.
This year, 498 undergraduate students and 176 graduate students will receive their diplomas as they walk across the stage in Moody Coliseum during Saturday’s ceremonies.
Two-hundred and twelve undergraduate students from the College of Arts and Sciences will be honored during the first ceremony, which will take place at 11 a.m., and the ceremonies for 286 undergraduate students from the College of Biblical Studies, College of Business Administration, College of Education and Human Service and the School of Nursing will be at 3 p.m.
For some, graduation is still a surreal thought.
Lizzete Marmolejo, a senior psychology major from Eagle Pass, said she’s just trying to get past her final exams first.
“I can’t even see the finish line yet because of all these finals,” she said. “Check in with me on Saturday.”
Marmolejo plans to pursue campus ministry after she graduates.
“I’m really looking forward to a new season with the Lord,” she said. “I’m eager and excited to see what He has in store for me and where He’ll take me next.”
Christina Brown, a junior nursing major from La Vernia, will attend the graduation ceremony for the second year to support and congratulate friends.
“I have a lot of friends who are upperclassmen, so I like to go because that’s probably the last time I’ll see some of them,” Brown said.
Faculty and administrators will greet graduates and their families at the reception after each graduation ceremony.
Graduation rehearsals will take place Friday for the respective ceremonies.
Undergraduate rehearsal for the College of Arts and Sciences will take place at 3 p.m., as well as the undergraduate rehearsals for the College of Biblical Studies, College of Business Administration, College of Education and Human Services and the School of Nursing.
Bachelor’s candidates need to report to check-in tables in the lobby area of the Teague Special Events Center to receive ceremony instructions and information.
Candidates will also need to bring their escort, along with their hood and mortar board.
