Intramural Office adds payment option

September 4, 2015 by Abbey Bowling

The intramural office has made changes to the way students can pay for intramural sports this year.

Payment is still available through PayPal, which hasn’t changed, but it has added the option of charging the payment to a student account, said intramural director Caitlin Conduff.

“Instead of coming to us and having to have a check or cash, you can come and tell us what sports you want to play and then charge it to your student account,” said Conduff.

Passes are still available and include a $40 annual pass, which allows students to play the entire year, as well as fall and spring semester passes for $25 each. Passes cover all sports for that time period. Students can also pay by sport, which varies from $5 to $10 based on the sport. Everything can be charged to your student account.

For more information and sign up deadlines, check out the intramural Twitter page (@ACUintramurals), the intramural website or imleagues.com, Conduff said.

“I think it’s a lot easier to pay to play now, instead of having to scrape up the money,” Conduff said. “I remember in college I had a hard time because I didn’t have $5 right in my purse. But being able to come in here and putting it on your student account is just a way to pay a little bit later.”

Cole Howard, junior accounting and financial major from Dallas and intramurals supervisor, said that intramural sports are a great way to get involved, just like any type of club or on-campus extracurricular activity.

“Some of my closest friends are people that I met through intramurals,” said Howard. “Not only is it a great way to get involved, but it also is a great way to stay active and live a healthy lifestyle.”

The changes will encourage more students to participate because the payment options are much more convenient, and convenience is everything, Howard said.

“I’d encourage people to follow us on Twitter because we have a lot of information there,” Conduff said. “Drop by if you’re interested in playing at all, and we have tons of information that we can give you.”

"Ending my college education early was always the plan for me, but the things that I have been able to see, experience and examine about ACU’s community were not. I have found immense growth in ACU over the past three and a half years, but ACU still has a long road to climb if it wants to keep catering to students as the world changes around them."
