The Abilene Police Department arrested a freshman in Mabee Hall Friday afternoon for possessing child pornography.
APD and the ACU Police Department collaborated in an investigation of Brandon Lord, freshman information technology major from Cypress, according to ACUPD. He was arrested on one count of the third-degree felony for downloading, saving and viewing child pornography, according to the police report. His bond was set at $25,000 and posted the next day.
According to Texas penal codes, a person is guilty of the crime if he “knowingly or intentionally possesses, or knowingly or intentionally accesses with intent to view, visual material that visually depicts a child younger than 18 years of age at the time the image of the child was made who is engaging in sexual conduct.” A third-degree felony in Texas is punishable by 2-10 years in prison and not more than a fine of $10,000.
