We like to call it humor, your Honor

September 15, 2011 by David Singer

With summer coming to a close, my friends and I took a trip to Port Aransas. I drove more than 500 miles that weekend and with about five miles to go on the way home I received a ticket for "failure to slow or evacuate lane for an emergency vehicle." The "emergency vehicle" in question was an unmarked police car. After some time on the Wikipedia ... [Read More…]

Noises Off! triumphs as two top-tier plays in one

September 8, 2011 by David Singer

"Noises Off!" began seemingly as any other play. The lovable housekeeper Dotty Otley (Donna Hester) enters the wood walled London living room and begins a monologue while on the telephone. Her thick British accent rambles until she seems to have forgotten her line. From this point on, the play never even approached normal. The audience watched a ... [Read More…]

September 2, 2011 by David Singer

The Department of Theatre's fall comedy, Noises Off, will give its final performances this weekend in Fulks Theatre. The British play falls into the genre of 'farce,' a type of comedy that involves absurdly improbable situations. The original production premiered in London in 1982 and soon moved to Broadway, where it garnered four Emmy ... [Read More…]

New Jason’s Deli location near campus

August 31, 2011 by David Singer

Jason's Deli has opened at a new location closer to campus. The 35-year-old sandwich chain, founded in Beaumont, has had a location in South Abilene for six years. The old location's popularity often led to long lines and lack of seating. "I think I ate there three times [in the last year]," said J.J. Blass, junior business management major from ... World Famous Bean dresses to impress

August 29, 2011 by David Singer

Freshmen, I would first like to extend a welcome. It's always nice to return to find 400 taller and older looking guys roaming campus who are allegedly younger than me (there is no way that one guy is 18). Now, today's lunch is probably not your first in the World Famous Bean. You enjoyed its range of deliciously digestible dishes when you ... [Read More…]
