I'm pretty tired of people trying to motivate me. Now before I explain, I do believe we all need people who encourage us to create dreams and go after them, especially at this formative stage in our lives. But, if it isn't coming from someone I know wants the best for me, personally, it's empty. If you're getting paid to tell me how great I ... [Read More…]
ACU decides to continue SBCs
The university will continue organizing Spring Break Campaigns next year and house them in the Office of Student Life, officials say. The decision came as a reversal of a Student Life plan earlier in the semester to cancel the long-standing tradition. SBCs, which had been handed off to the Halbert Institute for Missions last spring, will be ... [Read More…]
Mastering the art of faking sick
Mom, I have a confession: when I was younger, I used to fake sick. When I faked sick, I understood I had to be smart about what symptoms to have. Trial and error told me faking a fever didn't work. Too easy to check, dang it, and I was sent off to school. I knew from "ET," that apparently holding the thermometer up to the light bulb worked, but ... [Read More…]

ACU is a ‘pretty weird place’
They call ACU a bubble, and it is a pretty weird place. Sophomores carry rocks around. Students aggressively do the hand motions to "Highways and Byways." And why does the GATA fountain smell the way it does? I mean, ACU has a professional piano player serenade the students in the Bean. He seems to know every song known to man and is quick to ... Learning lessons from Agent 007
This summer, while most students were off on mission trip or internships, I had my own mission: I watched James Bond movies. Now, contradictory to what you may be thinking, this was not time wasted. James Bond taught me a lot about the world. Lesson #1: Bad guys are stupid and like cats James Bond taught me that it's always easy to foil a ... [Read More…]
