My elbow, the moon and kickball

August 27, 2013 by Marissa Jones

Beginning a new school year and learning the ropes as the new editor of the Optimist has been a very humbling experience for me. In times like these, you find out exactly how much you don't know. You get lost and show up to the wrong classroom. You forget to respond to your name when attendance is called. You can't find a seat in Chapel. It's ... [Read More…]

Leaving the United Kingdom for fun-filled Abilene

May 3, 2013 by Marissa Jones

When I was pretty young, I was the kid that hated leaving. I would hide and fight and cry when my parents came to bring me home from a friends house. I would actively time how long I could keep my parents saying good night to me. I just didn't know what to do when things concluded. Endings are always strange. I don't like them. They're full of ... Letters from a disgruntled American traveler abroad

April 19, 2013 by Marissa Jones

To the woman who tried to pickpocket me: When I stepped on that busy metro, I'll admit I took no notice of you. You were pretty unassuming which could've made you effective. And I don't want to be too harsh or critical but you really did blow it. There are some things in life that don't make sense: color blind fashion designers, teachers who hate ... [Read More…]

But that's really not the whole picture at all. I'm taking a class called ... [Read More…]
