November 1, 2022 by Brylie Mahar

Many traits make Karissa Idoko different from the typical ACU student. In addition to being younger than most college freshmen and an international student, Karissa also has her own non-profit organization. Karissa is a freshman interior design major from a city in West Africa called Lagos, Nigeria. She is active in the honor's college and just ... [Read More…]

You can get a job, but…Challenges and joys of an international student

October 31, 2022 by Emily Shafer

More than 3,000 miles from home. More than 3,000 miles from everything you know; just let that sink in. That's how far Claudia Panta Santos traveled from her home in Lima, Peru, to the small town of Abilene, Texas. Can’t imagine yourself doing the same? Well, many can’t, and many don’t. Actually, only 4.6% of all U.S. university students are ... [Read More…]

October 18, 2022 by Brylie Mahar

Faces full of thought and concentration filled lead singer, Weston Weast's apartment. The clock would tick as the hours passed. There would be a moment of silence, but their minds began to merge together as their ambitions for growth as artists and Christians led them to an artistic flow to create new music. Omelets with love: Tammy Gonzalez

October 13, 2022 by Mariah Williams

“Oh, that Tammy, I love her.” That’s the usual response when students are asked about the Bean’s “omelet lady,” and she loves them right back. Tammy Gonzalez started creating warm hearts by filling tummies as an 8-year-old growing up in California. There she would enjoy impromptu beach adventures with her family and friends, where she ... The Hindu virtue of hospitality

October 9, 2022 by Londyn Gray

Few pursue hospitality with as much fervor as ACU junior Yajat Patel. The trait was instilled in him from birth and embraced by him in life. He longs to see multicultural connection thrive in a Christian community – especially as a Hindu. His parents, Zarna Mehta and Yogeshkumar Patel, immigrated from India to the United States in the 1980s ... [Read More…]

Zach Smith goes Bananas in Savannah

October 9, 2022 by Kaylee Kahn

Zach Smith performs a TikTok dance. He steps up to bat and hits a single. He runs to first base in a bright yellow kilt, points to his coach’s shirt, and as the coach looks down, Zach kisses him on the head. This is no ordinary baseball game. This is the Savannah Bananas.  Smith, a pitcher for the ACU Wildcat baseball team from Abilene, accepted ... [Read More…]

Brad East: Theologian, writer and ACU Teacher of the Year

October 9, 2022 by Sheridan Wood

Dr. Brad East’s small office is filled to the brim with books – and I mean filled. Stacked on top of a completely full wall-length bookshelf are more books, and even more sit on the floor in front of the shelf. An extra few stacks fill the space under his desk.  Entering into his sixth year at ACU, barely enough time to even apply for tenure, ... [Read More…]

Sema’J Davis and his ‘leaps and bounds’ toward recovery

October 6, 2022 by Connor Mullins

Spirits were high for the Davis family as their son Shemar was celebrating a 26-7 homecoming win for the Midland Legacy Rebels over the Belton Tigers. The Davis family went to bed resting easy until 3:30 a.m., when they received a call from Abilene about their older son, Sema’J.  On Oct. 8, 2020, ACU quarterback Sema’J Davis’ life was altered in ... Sidelined for four seasons, Maverick McIvor returns to football as Wildcats’ top gun

September 29, 2022 by Carrie Johnston

The sound of fans filled Wildcat Stadium on Sept. 1, a day of new beginnings for ACU football along with a new quarterback in the spotlight. "Ending my college education early was always the plan for me, but the things that I have been able to see, experience and examine about ACU’s community were not. I have found immense growth in ACU over the past three and a half years, but ACU still has a long road to climb if it wants to keep catering to students as the world changes around them."
