The faculty and staff were shown a video presentation for the Centennial Campaign and Celebration on Monday.
John Tyson, vice president for development and alumni relations, presented the video as a chance to give the faculty and staff background information on the campaign and invite them to think and pray about the future of ACU.
“‘To educate students for Christian service and leadership throughout the world’ is a very simple statement that has become more and more meaningful to me,” Tyson said.
“For nearly 100 years our forefathers have been faithful to that mission-that’s rare. It’s up to us to insure that those who follow us are faithful as well.”
The video depicted events such as Sing Song, Opening Day Ceremonies in Chapel and football games. The video also included footage and photographs of students and the campus dating back to 1906, when the university was founded.
Alumni, professors and students described why they love ACU and think the Centennial is important.
Alumni were shown in their home environments discussing how their years at ACU brought them to where they are today, and scenes of students in classes and conversing with each other on campus were interspersed throughout the video.
“I don’t know about you,” Tyson said, “but that’s why I’m here.”
