Plans to bring Jim Wallis, author of “The Great Awakening,” and contributor to Soujourners magazine, may not happen. In a meeting, Dr. Dwayne VanRheenen, provost, did not OK Congress inviting Wallis, Matt Greenberg, SA chief development officer, said. The possibility is still under consideration.
SA apportioned $13,000 in the budget for campus activities, which would include a graduation speaker. Cabinet members arranged to bring Wallace to campus, arranged for Books-A-Million to host a book signing and coordinated lodging for Wallis.
Greenberg said Van Rheenen told him they would want to bring a speaker like Wallis to speak at a larger venue rather than the 12-minute graduation slot.
