A pipe burst in Zellner Hall Thursday morning, flooding the building’s third floor and crashing the university’s server.
Zane Dennis, executive director of facilities and campus development, said a hot water pipe running to an air conditioning unit froze and burst, causing the flood.
“When you have extreme temperatures like this, all of our weaknesses are exposed,” Dennis said.
Dennis said crews from Briercroft Restoration are working to clean up the mess.
Arthur Brant, director of enterprise infrastructure, said the the internet pipe was unaffected by the flood, but the university’s IP server was damaged, meaning no new computers can join the ACU network. Brant said myACU, Banner and the university’s main server would be down most of the day.
“Right now everything is an unknown. It looks like everything will be down for 6-8 hours as crews come in and get stuff out,” Brant said.
