Wholly burgers offers fresh fast food options

October 12, 2011 by Meiqi Zhang

Wholly Cow Burgers, a fast food restaurant, officially open their first location Oct. 3 on Judge Ely Boulevard near the ACU campus.

The restaurant primarily serves burgers, fries, and onion rings. However, it also offers veggie, turkey burgers and chicken breast as well as side dishes and drinks. The restaurant offers a 10 percent discounts to students.

Elizabeth Nuncio, owner of the restaurant, said the goal is to make the best burgers by using the freshest produce, 100% beef, daily cut fries, onions and baked buns.

“It’s all fresh produces, all of the buns are fresh, our meats are fresh,” Elizabeth said. “We cut in-house the onion rings and fries; we do all that ourselves.”

The Wholly Cows restaurant is owned by Elizabeth and her husband, Andy Nuncio. Andy worked in the food industry for about 10 years until he decided it was time to open their own restaurant.

For entertainment, Wholly Cows has televisions for customers to watch while eating their meal. A play place is also available for kids to enjoy.

“We’ve been very busy from open until we close everyday,” Elizabeth said. “We actually have variety of ages that come in. We have a lot of ACU as well Hardin-Simmons students and a lot of church members.”

Customers are welcome to enjoy the type of food the Wholly Cow serves, including the burgers and their stock of fresh daily produce.

“One of my mom’s friends told us about this place, and we just had to try it out,” Keondra Blount, Abilene resident said. “I really like it and I think I will come another time.”

Wholly Cow is open everyday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
