Social clubs have been a part of ACU’s campus since 1919. Freshmen had their first chance to get involved Monday at an interest meeting.
Mark Jackson, director of student organizations and programs, said he was encouraged by the number of students who attended the first meeting.
“It’s the heart of what we are about,” Jackson said.
The main rushes don’t begin until the fall, but many interest meetings will take place before then to help students gauge their interest.
Tess Taylor said, “I am so excited to start the entire process and just have fun building relationships.”
Students must be in good standing with the university and have a GPA of at least 2.5. ACU is adamant on making sure students hold up to a high academic standard, and due to the amount of time Club takes, students must take into consideration what they can and cannot handle, Jackson said.
Students have two more opportunities to learn about club this semester. The all club rush will take place Apr. 16. This is an opportunity for students to receive more information about the 11 social clubs on campus, meet others interested in pledging and eat food.
Registration opens Apr. 30 at acu.edu/getinvolved. Students must fill out the registration form before they can play an active role in the pledging process.
