Freshman Miranda Herron and sophomore Holly Neese recorded all three RBI and redshirt sophomore Hannah Null pitched 5.0-innings with three runs on six hits and two strikeouts. Senior Julia Montoya then finished out the game, giving up one run and two hits in 1.0-inning, as she was tagged with the loss.
ACU bounced back with a 7-3 win in game two. Sophomore Peyton Hedrick got the Wildcats on the board early when she scored on an error in the first, but TAMU-CC took the lead in the third to make the score 3-1. But ACU responded with six runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Hedrick, Herron and sophomore Alyson Bishoff all recorded RBI, along with two other unearned runs. Junior Casey-May Huff started the game and lasted 2.2-innings and gave up three runs before freshman Allison Turner came in to relieve her. Turner pitched 4.1-innings, gave up two hits, and recorded the win.
ACU also won the last game, 5-3, shutting out the Islanders until the sixth inning. Junior Taylor Brown recorded an RBI single in the first, and Hedrick followed with a 2-RBI single in the third before Neese smashed a two-run homer in the fifth to make the score 5-0. Null pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on five hits with two strikeouts, to bring her season total to 109 strikeouts. She also got the win, improving her season record to 13-11.
