Spanish honor society gives gifts to facilities employees

April 7, 2017 by Evan Rodriguez

The campus chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the Spanish honor society, gave gift baskets to WFF employees as part of their induction ceremony Thursday evening.

Ivana Munoz, junior Spanish education major from McKinney, said although the chapter didn’t get as much funds from the Students’ Association as they needed, chapter members  stepped up and donated personal funds for the gift baskets. The gift baskets were part of a chapter project called “seamos amables a unos con otros” which translates from Spanish to “be kind to one another.” In the past Sigma Delta Pi has given gift baskets to ACUPD.

The WFF employees who received the gift baskets were Mary Bowman, an Office Manager with WFF, and Maggie Mendez, a residence supervisor.

Not only were inductees and members in attendance, but friends and family turned out as well.

“I was pleasantly surprised by the turnout,” said Brynn Barton, Sigma Delta Pi historian and global studies major. “A lot of people came to support the new inductees and got to see what we’re all about.”

Sigma Delta Pi also debuted a brand new website, http://acusdp.wixsite.com/omegagammachapter, to boost awareness about their academic requirements and activities.
