SA set to host Christmas Slam

December 1, 2017 by Davis Hill

Students’ Association’s will host their annual Christmas Slam in Moody Coliseum on Dec. 9.

The event will feature a double header with the men’s basketball team playing at 2 p.m. and the women’s basketball team playing at 4 p.m. Food and prizes will be available during both games, including $1000 worth of prizes. Winning will no longer be exclusive to organizations that attend; individual and group costume contests will award cash prizes to best dressed.

Shelby Werderich, Students Association executive administrator, helped organize the event and said she hopes it will start a trend of greater athletics support by the student body rather than just a one-time attendance spike.

“It is a time to try to encourage more attendance at the basketball games,” Werderich said.

The Executive Cabinet is hoping the change in prize allocation will encourage more upperclassmen to attend.

“We need more people packing the gym,” said Julia Kennedy, executive SA vice president.
