Police Log: Suspicious person found in Library, issued a criminal trespass

January 30, 2025 by Ashley Henderson

1/26/2025 2350 hrs. Alarm, Bullock Hall

ACUPD and AFD responded to an alarm call inside Bullock Hall. It was determined an overloaded washer machine caused the machine motor to start smoking. No visible flames were observed. The machine was turned off and the alarm reset.

1/27/2025 1300 hrs. Hit and Run, Admin Lot

A black Mercedes struck a parked blue Hyundai in the Admin Lot and left without leaving information. ACUPD responded and located the driver. Information for insurance was gathered. No charges were filed.

1/22/2025 1140 hrs. Suspicious Person, Brown Library

ACUPD responded to a suspicious person who had been previously reported in the bottom floor of the library. Upon contact, the suspect was issued a criminal trespass warning to not return to the ACU campus.

According to ACUPD, the person was not associated with the university and made “people uncomfortable by being in their personal space and could not articulate why they wanted to be in the library.” Detective Sergeant Matthew Fox said ACUPD typically will not trespass individuals unless there is an “articulable threat to property or persons.”

1/22/2025 1200 hrs. Hazardous Material, Halbert Walling

ACUPD and AFD responded to a spill in one of the labs inside the Halbert Walling building. The spill was determined to be not a hazardous spill and was cleaned up.
