Peggy moved to San Diego and attended San Diego State University. Peggy and William also married in San Diego on June 8, 1948. She finished her undergraduate degree in secondary education from ACU and finished her M.A. in education from Pepperdine University in 1963.

The Teagues were known for being very active in the Abilene community, as they began living in Abilene in 1981. Peggy became president of the national board of Woman for ACU and ACU Faculty Wives. She also became the president of the Abilene Woman’s Club.

Peggy held multiple positions in the district and state offices in the Associated Women for Pepperdine University and taught students at Hardin-Simmons University, Harding University and Pepperdine University.

The Margaret L. Teague Spirit Award was created in 1988 in her honor. Recipients must demonstrate an energetic commitment to the historic values of ACU: caring, serving, excelling and loyalty to the university.

Her name was also part of the William J. and Margaret L. Teague Excellence award which is a scholarship fund created in 1989.

In May 1992, Teague Boulevard was opened as the new front entrance to ACU. Then in February 1999, the 43,500-square-foot Margaret L. and William J. Teague Special Events Center was dedicated in their honor.

The Teagues were married for 66 years.
