This weekend on Saturday, the women’s tennis team will travel to Las Cruces, New Mexico to match up against New Mexico State University. They will then head over to El Paso to compete against the University of Texas-El Paso.
“We had a tough loss last weekend and knowing we were right there with A&M has us feeling confident and motivated to get out there and play hard this weekend,” senior Nada Marjanovic said. “We know that both are very solid teams and the matches can go either way. We’re going to look at keeping composed and professional winning the mental battle in order for the tennis part to be there too.”
The women are coming off of a week where they came up empty against a tough team in Texas A&M. They were able to battle hard, however, and had plenty of close matches proving that they could hang with very talented competition. Coming into this weekend, the Wildcats have a record of 6-4 and their opponents include a 3-4 record for UTEP and a 2-3 record for New Mexico State. The women will look to avenge their lost last weekend with slightly less competitive competition as neither team they are facing is ranked.
“I feel great heading in, Nada and I are have put in the work in our doubles and we are more ready than ever,” sophomore Andrea Crook said. “I am excited for this weekend, hopefully they will let us finish our match this time.”
The women will begin play in New Mexico at 10 A.M., then will begin their matches against UTEP at 3 P.M.
