The Asian Student Organization will host a festival celebrating Asian student cultures Oct. 17 at 5 p.m., with the first 150 students receiving three food truck vouchers.
The street festival will give ASO students an opportunity to share their cultures with the rest of the university.
Aden Kwon, vice president of ASO, said students are assigned to tables representing the countries they are from and given a budget to create a display that portrays the culture of their country.
“Each table can do whatever they want to with a certain amount of budget that they’re given,” said Kwon, sophomore nursing major from Conroe. “That could look like having food like I do, or that could look like having a game or having a performance, just showing off certain things.”
Kwon said ACU has only a 2-3% asian population, and that the festival is a great way for the students of ACU to come together to support and celebrate that population. The tables and food trucks will allow students to experience aspects of the cultures represented by ASO.
ASO has been planning this event since last year. Coordinating with departments, collaborating with vendors and corresponding with ACU to get everything to work together has been a labor of love, said Jeremiah Kuspa, ASO community ambassador.
“I think I am most excited to see everything come together,” said Kuspa, senior electrical engineering major from Haslet, after explaining all the hard work and orchestration that goes into this event.
